Successful wage agreement at GBM Gleisbaumechanik - Positive business situation enables the full-service provider for rail vehicles to hire new employees

Positive news for the employees of rail vehicle manufacturer GBM Gleisbaumechanik Brandenburg/H. GmbH: in mid-January, the collective wage commission of the Eisenbahn- und Verkehrsgewerkschaft (EVG) and representatives of the company were able to agree on a new collective wage agreement following intensive negotiations. The agreement will have a duration of two years, meaning it will be valid until the end of 2025.

Wages and salaries will increase in steps by a total of €320. Due to the additional monthly payment of an inflation adjustment premium in 2024, the majority of this adjustment will take effect from 01/01/2024. Overall, this corresponds to an average increase of 12.2%. The bonuses for overtime, night work, work on Sundays and public holidays will also be increased.

Collective wage agreement underlines appreciation of GBM employees

With this wage agreement, the company's management is underlining its appreciation of the employees who have played a key role in the success and growth of GBM Gleisbaumechanik in recent years.

Commenting on the agreement, Managing Director Dr. Volker Keller said: “With this wage agreement, GBM has gone to the limits of what is economically possible. By doing so, we also want to send a signal to our employees and recognize their commitment and expertise, which have played a decisive role in the positive business developments of recent years. With this significant salary increase, we would like to thank our team and share in GBM's success. I look forward to the coming years, in which we want to continue on our current path together.”

Good business situation enables new hires and apprenticeships

As the current state of orders is very good for the Brandenburg-based company, further jobs can be created at the site in Kirchmöser. These relate to service, production, maintenance and modernization of rail vehicles, as well as work preparation, project management, engineering, quality management and finance & controlling. GBM is thus continuing its sustained growth of recent years. Information on the newly advertised positions can be found at www.gleisbaumechanik.de/de/jobs.

The company is also looking for future apprentices. GBM Gleisbaumechanik Brandenburg/H. GmbH will once again be training mechatronics technicians (m/f/d) in the 2024 apprenticeship year. The apprenticeship pay will also be increased in two stages by a total of €160 under the new collective wage agreement. Further information on apprenticeship as a mechatronics technician (m/f/d) at GBM can be found at: www.gleisbaumechanik.de/de/azubi2024.
